PAPAVERI ring by Monica Castiglioni
PAPAVERI ring by Monica Castiglioni
Papaveri ring by Italian designer Monica Castiglioni. A sculptural piece of jewelry hand cast in bronze with grey enamel. Available in size 7 and 9. (Due to the design, sizes are forgiving in both directions.)
Creating pieces of jewelry has been her great passion for over 40 years in Milan, New York, Ortigia, and Fukuoka. Monica has always liked working with bronze since it unmistakably shows its inner life through its oxidation process. Her pieces often take the shape of nature and the flower pistil has become her most iconic shape. Her styling mainstay is the unique yet ever-changing compositions that can be created by simply adding and mixing her pieces. All of her creations are made either in limited numbers or single pieces, produced using the lost wax casting technique. Some of her collections come in bigger sizes and are pieces of sculpture made in cooperation with Fonderia Artistica Battaglia in Milano and Modern Art Foundry in New York City.
Bronze is an alloy made of 90% copper and 10% tin, nickel-free. Depending on the pH of your skin, bronze may leave dark stains that can be washed off easily; it is not to be regarded as an allergic reaction. Bronze can be cleaned with a soft cloth and metal polish or lemon juice; it may be rinsed off with dish detergent or mild soap and cold water. Never pull open or pinch closed the ring without the proper tool. It is helpful to turn the ring sideways when putting it on or taking it off.
