About the artist:
Sara Berks is a Germantown, NY-based designer, artist, and the founder of MINNA. Her practice moves fluidly between art and design, each informing the other. Working primarily in watercolor and gouache on paper, her art practice has also included textiles and mixed media.
Sara’s current work explores two distinct yet interconnected series: Softening Edges and Folk Floral. Softening Edges is meditative and organic, embracing abstraction and fluidity, while Folk Floral is intricate and structured, drawing inspiration from nature, traditional folk art, and textiles. Both series follow a disciplined approach — each composition is framed by a defined edge, yet remains internally unpredictable. At its core, her work is about communication and thought, the breakdown of language, and the repetition of patterns — both visual and behavioral.
