Dan Ladd is a Northampton artist whose works are the result of his lifelong fascination with nature. Largely using plants as his medium, Dan has created living sculptures since the 1970s, molding and growing gourds into finely detailed sculptures and guiding the growth of trees into arches, boxes, and other dramatic shapes.
From April 3-26,
Dan Ladd's sculptural birdhouses will be displayed in a special showcase at Available Items. A recent body of work that's both radical and delightful, each one is a unique, handcrafted assemblage of natural elements and found objects.
"In a time of pronounced nature deprivation, I hope my work helps reconnect our inner being with the outside world and demonstrates a collaborative dialogue with the natural world."
