Adrian Madlener: Structural Splinter

Adrian Madlener is a Brussels-born, New York-based artist, curator, and writer

As a trained designer, Madlener finds continued satisfaction in drawing, translating his continued exposure to various expressions of visual culture and fragmented architectural detail into abstract, pattern-work depictions.

As a journalist, Madlener has held editorial positions at The Architect’s Newspaper, TLmag, and Frame, and frequently contributes to publications such as Cultured, Disegno, Domus, Dwell, Hypebeast, and Wallpaper* with a particular focus on topics that exemplify the best in craft-led experimentation. He has also written monographs—on Italian polymath Vincenzo De Cotiis and the Czech architecture firm Chybik + Kristof—and curated exhibitions on American design history, contemporary glass, counterfeit culture, and tool theory.

From May 1 through June 7, Madlener's intricate drawings will be displayed in a special showcase at Available Items, including works from his 2023 Fenestration series as well as larger graphic works created in 2026.
