The Haas Brothers, twin siblings born in 1984, gained global recognition for their innovative designs in set design, print and video props, fashion, furniture, and object designs, all based in their Los Angeles studio. Their unique approach to materials, including fur, bronze, porcelain, and polyurethane, and their exceptional visual intelligence distinguishes them as designers.

This book, the first monograph on the brothers, showcases their projects, such as the Hex series of handcrafted bronze tile pieces, Accretion series of distinctive ceramic vessels, and the Beast series of anthropomorphic furniture made from brass and wool. The book also includes their latest collection that focuses on playful, sculptural forms that explore ideas of arousal and eroticism. The book features colorful photographs and drawings by Nikolai and Simon, conveying their humor and eloquence while illuminating the inspirations, theories, and processes behind their works. It also includes a glimpse of their studio and practice.

The Haas Brothers began their design journey by studying stone carving and construction with their father in Austin, Texas. They established their studio practice after collaborating with renowned architectural firm Johnston Marklee on a project at Sony Studios in Los Angeles in 2010. Over the years, they have developed their design studio, spending time experimenting with materials, surface textures, and processes. They created a limited-edition furniture collection for Versace in 2013 and now focus on exploring aesthetic and formal themes related to nature, science fiction, psychedelia, and color theory.
