Michele De Lucchi is an Italian architect and designer born in 1951 in Ferrara, Italy. He graduated from the University of Florence's School of Architecture in 1975 and later went on to work as an assistant to designer Ettore Sottsass in Milan, where he became a prominent figure in the Memphis design movement of the 1980s.

De Lucchi has designed for several high-profile companies, including Artemide, Olivetti, and Alessi. His designs are known for their innovative use of materials and forms, as well as their integration of traditional craft techniques with modern technologies. His work ranges from lighting fixtures, furniture, and accessories to architecture and urban planning projects.

De Lucchi's notable designs include the Tolomeo desk lamp for Artemide, which has become an icon of Italian design, and the First chair for Alias, which won the Compasso d'Oro award in 1987. He has also designed buildings and public spaces, including the Triennale Design Museum in Milan and the new headquarters for the Italian newspaper, Corriere della Sera, in Rome.
